MEET THE SPEAKER
One of our highlight speakers this month is motivational keynote speaker, coach and creator of Mindful Selling, Anis Qizilbash, transformed from a shy introvert to generating millions in revenue across multiple sectors, without being typically salesy.
She’s using her 20+ years of experience to help thousands of start-ups and self-employed gain confidence and clarity to charge more and get paid doing what they love. She is author of Grow Your Sales, Do What You Love: Mindful Selling and has appeared in The Guardian, Entrepreneur, Forbes, amongst others, for her insights. She shares mindset tips & strategies on her YouTube Channel also.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF?
My job doesn’t feel like a job to me, I love what I do and feel incredibly lucky that I get to meet and work with so many inspiring people who are driven to improve themselves so they can grow their impact. This is sounding wishy washy, so here are some other things I love: our cat Whiskey, a naughty rambunctious Bengal cat – if she wrote a book it would be, Eat, Play, Love. She talks back and snores in her sleep. Jen and I celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary this year, she’s a Texan-Brit, an artist and my best friend. By night I do improvised comedy, which means I get together with people to make stuff up to make people laugh.
TRANSITIONING FROM A SHY INTROVERT TO A MOTIVATIONAL KEYNOTE SPEAKER MUST HAVE BEEN A CHALLENGING PROCESS. WHAT WAS THE TURNING POINT?
The turning point came after facing one of my biggest fears at the time, which was public speaking. On the other side of that fear I realised it was something I was deeply passionate about and then went about figuring out how to do it more. You never know what’s on the other side of fear.
HOW DO YOU FIND MINDFULNESS PRACTICES HAVE HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER?
Mindfulness helped me let go of negative chatter that held me back, as a result I stopped doubting myself, I found courage to step out of my comfort zone, dream bigger and keep going in the face of setbacks.
IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE?
Creating content that’s making a positive impact in people’s lives is incredibly rewarding.
WHAT IS THE GREATEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
My Dad told me to work hard because that’s one thing no one can take away from you. As the saying goes, “it’s never crowded along the extra mile”, don’t know who said that, but it’s true.
IF YOU COULD INVITE ANY 3 PEOPLE TO A DINNER PARTY, WHO WOULD THEY BE?
Moira Rose character from Schitts Creek, because I want to hear her use those big words, but also, Catherine O’Hara who plays the character is an improv comedy legend. Genghis Khan, to learn about the past and how he united nomadic tribes to establish one of the greatest empires – he’s also my ancestor. Jane Goodall, because she gives me so much hope for the future of humanity.
